Directions From Interstate I-95
Exit 17 Westport. Whether coming from t
he
north or south, turn right at bottom of the ramp. Head south on
Route 136 under the railroad overpass for about one mile. Just past the
sign for Town of Norwalk take left onto Duck Pond Road. Proceed 100 yards
and turn left onto Great Marsh Road. SHYC is on the right.
Directions From Long Island Sound
Coming from the west leave red bell "24" to port and turn north to green 2.5 sec. flashing can "1" (Georges Rock) making sure to leave it to port to avoid Cockenoe (pron. Ko-kee-nee) Reef, thence to green flasher "3" (Bug Light).
Coming from the South, again, leave green 2.5 sec. flashing can "1" to port and head for green flasher "3" (Bug Light).
Coming from the East, head for the green flasher "3" (Bug Light).
From the Bug Light pass between the first pair of river bouys, green can "5" and red nun "6". Slow speed to 5mph from this point on. Pass the Compo Marina channel and follow the green cans as they take you to the west side of the river where you will turn 90 degrees to starboard at red nun "16" (opposite Cedar Point Yacht Club). Give this nun and all the rest up the river a wide berth, staying to the west side of the channel. At red nun "20" enter the SHYC channel between the green and red bouys. Line up the burgee marker on the dock with another on land. This channel was dredged to 8 feet in 1997. Reach the dock master on VHF Channel 71.
