The split between sailboats and power boats is about even. Cruising, fishing and racing are the main on water activities with a busy year round entertainment schedule for the members (see Events page). Situated in a residential area, Saugatuck Harbor Yacht Club does not have a restaurant or bar for non-members but transient yachtsmen are welcome and may utilize the pool and barbeque areas. Taxis are easily available to take visitors to any of the area's many great restaurants and entertainment attractions (see Visiting SHYC). |
Shown above is the main clubhouse which was originally the carriage barn and stable for a large estate (see Club History). At right is an aerial view showing our club's basin which was created from Duck Pond in 1959. The entrance is on the right and the clubhouse and pool are just to the left of center. The fuel dock is on the left upon entering the basin from the Saugatuck River Channel. Aerial photo courtesy of On Location Photography by Cliff Ruquist. (860) 589-8103 |
